Welcome to,
Transportable Homes Canterbury.
Constructed by our team of qualified tradesmen with over three decades of combined experience, our homes provide you with the space, comfort, and quality of a traditional home in a Transportable format.
Why Transportable Homes?
Through our extensive trade backgrounds, we recognized the unique challenges of building homes in New Zealand – complex weather dependent building process, cumbersome consent procedures, extended delivery periods and unexpected cost overruns. These usually occur as a result of:
Geographic Isolation
Due to New Zealand’s geographic isolation, materials often need to be imported, which can lead to delays and higher costs.
Seismic Activity
Earthquake-Resistant Construction: New Zealand is prone to earthquakes, necessitating stringent building standards to ensure that homes are earthquake-resistant. This can increase construction costs and complexity.
Compliance with Building Codes: Builders must adhere to strict building codes designed to mitigate the risks of seismic activity, which can be challenging to navigate.
Weather Conditions
Varied Climate: New Zealand’s climate varies widely, with some regions experiencing heavy rainfall, strong winds, and temperature extremes. Homes need to be designed to withstand these conditions through time, which can complicate the building process.
High Wind Zones: Certain areas, especially coastal regions, are classified as high wind zones, requiring additional structural reinforcement.
Skilled Labour Shortage
Skilled Worker Shortage: There is an ongoing shortage of skilled labor in the construction industry, leading to increased competition for workers, higher labor costs, and potential project delays.
Training and Retention: The industry faces challenges in training and retaining skilled workers, which can impact the quality and speed of construction.
Rising Costs
Material Costs: The cost of building materials has been rising, exacerbated by global supply chain disruptions. This makes budgeting for a new home increasingly difficult.
Land Prices: Land prices in desirable areas, especially in urban centers, continue to rise, making it more expensive to build.
We wanted to vastly simplify the process of building your home.
Unlike traditional homes that are constructed at a specific location, ours are built in Christchurch and designed for adaptability and mobility. By centralising our construction operations, we’ve optimised efficiency and streamlined the building process.
This strategic approach not only minimises wasted labour but also guarantees consistent, high-quality results in every home we deliver. This flexibility ensures no matter where you are in the South Island, our homes can come to you.
Flexibility:
Unique advantage of being relocatable – start with your first home, and later turn it into a holiday retreat.
Versatility:
Whether it’s a family home, a holiday escape, or a future investment, our homes adapt to your changing needs.
Cost-Effective:
Build a home that suits your current budget and lifestyle, with the potential to relocate or repurpose in the future.
